Beau Butner

Introduction

About Me

For starters my name is Beau and I live in Illinois. I'm not going to go into much more detail as to where I live because, well, this is the internet. My interests and hobbies include programming (obviously), gaming, and occasionally working on my car. Two of those things I think I'm pretty good at, and I'll let you choose which ones you think they are. If I'm not doing any of those things odds are I'm either at school or work, life is pretty busy it turns out, who knew. Other miscellaneous things like music interests are rap/mid 2000's rock/classic rock, favorite TV shows are Orange is the New Black, Shameless, Breaking Bad, and a few others.

Why Programming?

Ever since I was little I've always had an interest in anything technology related. I grew up playing Halo on the Xbox, then eventually moved to the PC where I started to play Minecraft like a lot of other people. It was during this time that I realized that hosting servers and programming were absolutely fascinating to me. Being able to create something and then share it with the world, albeit a little nerve racking for me, is something that I really wanted to do. I started small in Minecraft, making a pretty basic plugin called Ore-Logger (which I never released). Minecraft is the main reason why I consider Java to be my main programming language. Although I've dabbled in a few others including Web (HTML/CSS/JS/PHP), Python, C++, and C#, Java has always been what peaked my interest the most.

Work Experience

Meijer

Mostly I was a shelf stocker. Take a cart from the back room out to the floor, get as much out as I can, rinse and repeat. Also required to provide excellent customer support, which I did so to the T. Always had a smile on my face, and as respectful as I can be. Acquired OSHA HiLo certification.
